Limestone lodge, elegant yet rustic, next to a spring fed lake along Sinking Creek. It has a large open ceilinged great room, held up with broad axe hewn walnut beams. Cast iron beds, tile or concrete floors, and wood stoves in every room. Across the creek from the house lies the 18,000 natural log Shiitake Mushroom Farm, under a pine canopy. Downstream from the organic mushroom farm, Sinking Creek takes a shortcut through a 100 foot limestone bluff via a 500 foot long cavern. In the afternoon, the sunlight reflecting off the sand bottom into the cave makes the lower side of The Sinks tunnel glow like a Columbian emerald. Swim in the creek, or in the pool just above the level of the lake. Slow Food member.
